How to answer calls by emulating a swipe gesture with AssistiveTouch's Custom action

When you iOS device is locked, answering calls requires sliding the call button. This guide shows how to slide the call by using the AssistiveTouch's Custom gesture action.

1. Turn on AssistiveTouch.

2. Create a new custom gesture by selecting Create New Gesture, and have a caregiver swipe from left to right at bottom of the screen. Click Save and enter a name for this custom swipe gesture.

3. Select Customize Top Level menu, and add the Custom action.

4. To answer a call, open the the AssistiveTouch menu. Select Custom and then select the custom swipe gesture that was created in step 2 (name might differ). Click on the phone button. The button will automatically swipe to the right.

Tips

While using a custom swipe gesture is an effective way to answer calls when the device is locked, there are other ways:

  • Use the AssistiveTouch's Hold & Drag action.
  • Use Siri to accept or reject the call.
